ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Chijioke.
WHERE I COME FROM
Metro Atlanta has been home for most of my life. I was born in Atlanta and grew up in Stone Mountain and Snellville in a working-class family as the child of Nigerian immigrants. I learned early on the importance of saving and the value of a dollar from my parents. My father worked as a Corrections Officer, later becoming a high school Special Needs Paraprofessional while my mother worked as an elementary school Special Needs Paraprofessional. I grew up seeing my parents work hard and sacrifice by working multiple jobs, weekends, and night shifts to provide for 3 children in a new country. They did all this as public sector employees and I intend to bring that commitment to public service and attention to detail in finances and budgeting to my public service as your city council member.
WHAT I BRING TO THE TABLE
My upbringing and love for public service led me to study Political Science and Public Policy at Georgia State University. During my university years, I was heavily involved in student activism as well as volunteering for the 2008 Barack Obama Presidential Campaign and interning at the State Capitol. I later earned a Master of Public Administration with a concentration in Management and Finance where I learned the ins and outs of leading, funding, and planning strategically in a government.

I have taken these acquired skills into my 10+ years of experience in the public and private sectors through community engagement and ensuring safe, decent, and affordable housing. My experience includes working in spaces that were diverse racially, politically, and economically. These spaces reflect my approach to governing, which include (1) my belief in the importance of all being heard, (2) no one being too old nor experienced to learn something new, and (3) the need to be flexible to change. That is the kind experience and approach I will bring to The City of Mableton as your city council member.
WHO MOTIVATES ME?
Although my family background, personal experiences, and love for the City of Mableton motivate me to see Mableton at its best - my main motivator is my wife. I am married to a wonderful woman - Nina Omeaku, JD, MPH. She was raised in the Austell/Mableton area and is the reason I was privileged to learn about this great community. She serves as a constant reminder to always be the light you hope to see in the world.
